The Dukes of Flatbush have announced their bid to race the 41st annual Baja 1000 in Baja, Mexico over November 19 - 22, 2008. To give you an idea about the race, the 2007 course was 1,296.4 miles long and had a time limit of 53 hours. The Dukes of Flatbush team will consist of 4 riders using one motorcycle, swapping off at predetermined points. There are approximately 22 pit stops that occur in the middle of the desert to allow all of this to happen. It’s a logisitical nightmare, but perhaps worse, the race is described by contestants as a ‘24 hour car crash’.
Preparations have begun in earnest even though the race is 11 months away. Graham has arranged a trip to ride all of Baja from March 25-31 with Chris Haines so he can do recon for the team. Two race-prepped Honda CRF450x motorcycles will be acquired in the Spring to kick off training efforts. Keep checking DOFB.com for updates as we prepare for the mother of all races.

Due to various changes in climate, rationing of marlin dip , the Seattle Seven and the FCC spectrum auction there was a splintering of the Dukes of Flatbush blogs that we realized must come to an end as we close out this year.
Let it be known that the Dukes are hard at work to unite the blogs so you can follow all shenanigans and feats of strength as we roll into 2008.
In the meantime I encourage you to follow the individual blogs until the unification occurs and keep your eyes here before the Dukes evacuate the NYC for the Christmas to New Years Eve stretch run.

A moment of silence for Evel. The motorcycle daredevil who broke every bone in his body, the man who tried to jump the Snake river on a ‘sky cycle’, the man who dared to dream. We’ll miss you…
I also posted some pictures of one of his bikes that lives in a NC museum. Truly great stuff..
Well the 2007 NYRR racing season is wrapping up and the Dukes of Flatbush came out for one final run of the year, the Hot Chocolate 15K. With below freezing temperatures but brilliant sunshine, Jon 9 and myself braved the cold for the race and had a hell of a time.
Official results are below, but do not really tell the whole story. This was the first time Jon 9 had run this distance and only the 3rd race of his life. To come out and run that good a time is impressive.
Look out for this rookie in the 2008 season as he goes out to prove that this was not a fluke and he has what it takes.
